General & Preventive Care
Regular Dental Cleanings
Dental cleanings are performed by our dental hygienists every three, four, or six months, depending on your individual needs. It generally takes 45-60 minutes for our hygienists to gently remove calculus and plaque from your teeth. Cleanings are important for preventing gum disease and tooth decay.
Dental Exams
Did you know that your dental health can have an impact on your overall health, and vice versa? During routine exams, we not only check for any dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, oral sores, and oral cancer, but we also look for symptoms of other health conditions, such as nutritional deficiencies, diabetes, and hormonal irregularities. A typical exam includes x-rays, jaw joint inspection, and a thorough examination of your mouth and surrounding tissues.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Fillings are used to restore teeth that have been broken or affected by decay. Dr. Alexis layers composite, tooth-colored materials into the tooth and cures them with an intense visible light. Then, she shapes and polishes the tooth surface to ensure the filling blends in seamlessly and is virtually undetectable in your smile.
Digital X-Rays
As compared to traditional radiography, digital x-rays use 80% less radiation, take less time, and allow Dr. Alexis to gain more knowledge about your teeth and surrounding tissues. X-rays can help us detect developing problems and abnormalities beyond what can be seen in a visual exam. Using this information, we can create a treatment plan that meets your needs.
Periodontal Care
Many factors contribute to gum disease development, including stress, nutrition, pregnancy, genetics, smoking, poor oral hygiene, puberty, and diabetes. Periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss and jawbone deterioration. If your gums are swollen, tender, or inflamed, you may be developing gum disease.
We use gentle, soft-tissue laser treatments to treat infected pockets within the mouth. This treatment produces minimal bleeding and pain to ensure a comfortable experience that results in healthier gums.
Dental Sealants
Sealants are coatings made of flowable resin that are applied to back molars that have deeply grooved chewing surfaces. They help to seal out food and bacteria and create a smoother surface that is easier to clean through brushing. Sealants can be used for both children and adults.
Cosmetic & Restorative Care
Crowns & Bridges
A crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth that has been severely damaged or has suffered from moderate to severe decay, making it no longer fixable with just bonded filling materials. A crown restores strength, function, and appearance to the tooth.
A dental bridge is used to replace a missing tooth. When left unaddressed, tooth loss can lead to shifting of the surrounding teeth, difficulties chewing and speaking, and decreased confidence in your smile. A bridge is permanently cemented in your smile and looks and functions just like natural teeth while helping to protect your dental and oral health.
Dentures & Partials
Complete dentures are for patients missing all of their teeth, while partial dentures are used when a patient has retained some of their natural teeth. Dentures help to restore the health, function, and aesthetics of your smile. All dentures are custom-created to fit securely and comfortably in your mouth, so you can chew and speak with ease. Dentures also help prevent facial sagging, creating a more youthful appearance.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are custom-created porcelain laminates that are bonded onto the front of your existing teeth. They help transform the appearance of teeth and can be used to disguise misalignments, gaps, chips, and cracks in the smile. Veneers are resistant to discoloration and are custom-created to achieve your unique smile goals. Because a small amount of tooth enamel is removed to bond the veneers, this treatment is often irreversible.
Teeth Whitening
Our teeth-whitening treatment helps to reverse the effects of coffee, tea, smoking, and aging on the coloration of the smile. This is a non-invasive option that whitens the smile by several shades for a naturally vibrant grin. We will work with you to determine the teeth-whitening option best for your needs.
Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a treatment for which we use liquid resin to rebuild and reshape a tooth’s surface to correct chips or misalignments. This is an affordable, one-visit treatment that can last for up to five years when the smile is properly cared for.
Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions are necessary for optimal dental health when a tooth is broken or infected beyond repair. We work to make this treatment as comfortable as possible for you and will discuss your tooth-replacement options with you.
Root Canal Therapy
If your tooth has suffered trauma or infection that has reached the pulp, a root canal is necessary. The infected pulp must be removed and any bacteria and decay eliminated in order to save the tooth. Then, the tooth is filled with medicated material and sometimes restored with a crown to protect it from further damage.
Implant Restorations
Dental implants are permanent tooth-replacement options consisting of metal posts that are surgically inserted into the gums and fuse with the jaw bone to create an artificial “root.” Although we don’t perform the surgical portion, we will refer you to a dental surgeon. Then, our team can restore the dental implant by placing a custom crown or prosthetic. This helps the implant to look and function just like a regular tooth.
